Interpretation Courses 2016

After two previous years of master classes – the first one with Dagmar Pecková and the second with Adam Plachetka and Kateřina Kněžíková – we continued in the effort to support young artists.

The Interpretation Courses in 2016 were focused on the classical singing – lead by the soloist of the National Theatre and favored soprano Kateřina Kněžíková, on the baroque style of singing – for the first time lead by popular mezzo-soprano Markéta Cukrová. The singing lessons were accompanied by the chief accompanist of the National Theatre Zdeněk Klauda.

In 2016, we continued in the successfully initiated cooperation with the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

The first run of the courses were held on April 16 – 17, 2016 at Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. During the second run that was organized on August 15 – 19, 2016, the participants were already for the third time welcome at Chateau Liteň that used to be the home of Jarmila Novotná. For the second round we – together with the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts and lectures on individual branches – selected from the best candidates only 9 participants. The Interpretation Courses were concluded by the concert of the lecturers and graduates of these courses on August 19, 2016 in a historical building Čechovna at Chateau Liteň which we subsequently organized on September 14, 2016 at the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in modified form. Except some of this year’s graduates there also performed selected last year’s graduates. The 2015 Master Class was held under the leadership of Kateřina Kněžíková and Adam Plachetka.

The Final Concert of Graduates of Interpretation Courses 2015 and 2016 under the title “The Best of …” was held on September 14, 2016 at 6 pm in the Martinů Hall at the HAMU. This concert was organized by the Association of Chateau Liteň and Music and Dance Faculty of Performing Arts in Prague.
