As part of the 11th annual Jarmila’s Novotná Festival, we prepared for you:
LITEŇ FRENCH HORN DAYS
The festival was opened this year with a parade of French horn players who gathered in Liteň for the second time. On the 23rd and 24th of April, the players met at participant concerts, workshops, and lectures. The Liteň French Horn Days also invited the public to visit. As part of the accompanying program, for those who were interested, they could listen to the participant concerts throughout the weekend or see an exhibition of brass instruments or a concert of hunting trumpeters. Admission to the concerts was free.
Fundraising concert THANK YOU WITH THE MUSIC
We invited you to the exceptional concert THANK YOU WITH THE MUSIC, which was in the program of the 11th season of Jarmila Novotná Festival. The concert supported Ukrainian artists who flee their homeland to the Czech Republic because of the war. Young musicians performed classical repertoire of Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Piazzola, Fauré and others. The concert was held on Friday the 20th of May at 7:00 pm in the historic building of Čechovna. The excellent Štefan Margita performed as the exclusive host. The entire proceeds from the concert donated to the performers from Ukraine.
ZUŠ OPEN
The popular happening of primary art schools has already established its traditional place among the festival’s activities in the Chateau Liteň. This year it was held on Sunday, 22nd of May. There were several outdoor stages in the park as well as various concerts in the Čechovna Hall.
SINGING COURSES IN LITEŇ and THE TOUCH OF LOVE
Last year’s singing courses gained great response thanks to a visit from the famous Dutch singer and mentor Margreet Honig and also thanks to the lecturer’s connection with excellent soprano Simona Houda Šaturová. We did not hesitate to repeat their participation this year with the addition of opera director Marek Mokoš. The 9th year of the courses took place between the 14th and 18th of June and was also exceptional with its exclusive cooperation with the Opera Studio of the Slovak National Theatre. The theme was early romanticism. At the end of the courses, we organized the open-air concert The Touch of Love, that took place in the Chateau Liteň Park on the early evening of the 18th of June.
ADVENT CONCERT
French horn players from the Czech Philharmonic, the string ensemble Pavel Bořkovec Quartet, selected graduates of the spring Liteň French Horn Music Workshop and the Soprano Eva Esterková, the winner of the Jarmila Novotná Award from 2019, performed at the Advent concert in the Chateau Liteň in the historic building “Čechovna”. Festive compositions by Mozart, Beethoven and Weber soothed our ears as well as some advent songs. Due to great interest, we added an afternoon concert. The concerts took place on Sunday the 27th November at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the historic building of Čechovna.
The Jarmila Novotná Festival 2022 was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture Mgr. Martin Baxa and the Governor of Central Bohemia Region Mgr. Petra Pecková.
